Adobe Brings Premiere to iOS, Turning the iPhone into a Professional Video Editing Tool
Adobe has officially announced that Premiere will be available on the iPhone starting September 30, bringing its industry-leading video editing capabilities and AI-powered features to mobile creators for the first time.
Premiere Comes to iPhone
According to the App Store listing, Premiere for iOS will allow users to edit and export videos without watermarks. The app inherits many features from the desktop version, including:
-
Multi-layer video and audio editing
-
Advanced trimming and frame adjustments
-
Auto-caption support
-
Text, audio, and visual overlays
-
Export in 4K HDR quality
One standout feature is “Enhance Speech”, which removes background noise and ensures clean voice recordings—even in noisy environments.
Firefly AI Integration
Premiere on iOS comes with Adobe Firefly AI, enabling users to:
-
Generate images, audio, and even short video clips from text prompts
-
Access a built-in library of royalty-free music, sound effects, stock images, graphics, and presets
-
Seamlessly use fonts and Lightroom presets within their projects
Pricing and Availability
The app will launch for free, but premium features such as AI credits and cloud storage will require a paid subscription. An Android version is currently in development, though Adobe has not announced a release date.
A Strategic Move in Mobile Video Editing
This release underscores Adobe’s push into mobile creativity amid growing competition in short-form video editing. TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts continue to dominate, while Meta has launched its own Edits app, and AI-powered startup Captions—backed by Andreessen Horowitz—recently switched to a freemium model.
Earlier this year, Adobe expanded aggressively on mobile:
-
February 2025: Photoshop for iOS launched
-
June 2025: Photoshop beta for Android released
-
2025: Dedicated Firefly app rolled out on both iOS and Android
By bringing Premiere to iPhone, Adobe signals its ambition to maintain dominance in digital creativity while reaching a new generation of mobile-first creators.
